For those who knew Rita Savelis: I recently logged back on here to check on some people, only to be crushed by the news about the death of our friend Rita Savelis. Though I never met her in person, Rita was very special to me, and I know she was... Read more.
RIP, Rita! Truly a one of a kind, special lady. Thank you for the sweet reminders, Kate! I am so grateful for your friendship and that Adam brought us together! ❤️
What a beautiful tribute. We are all fortunate to have 'known' Rita. ❤️
Beautiful heartfelt tribute, Kate. ♥️. Rita was more than a warrior, gladiator and survivor. She was a philosopher. And I can see so have you become. You make her proud.
Thank you Kate for this beautiful tribute to our very dear Rita. ❤️
I'm so grateful too, Alina, but you know this :) Thank you all for reading it and your comments. Deena- yes a philosopher, that's the truth. Thanks for your compliment- that means a lot :)
Wonderfully said, Kate. Rita was a wonderful person and will be missed.

I am now about 12 weeks post op. Things are kind of slow going here in my recovery process, with multiple setbacks and a few ER visits. A few days ago, I pulled something in my rib which is very painful and I think was just from getting out of... Read more.

Kate i wish you well in your recovery but i have to say it. Your dogs ears are adorable. If we lived closer together i would invite you to walk with us. We could dog train together. Its a never ending process but very rewarding. Pulling is never a good... Read more.
I am in awe of your ability getting through a third surgery! I hope things improve from here on out. I know your Private Duty Nurse Kai will help you though! LOVE the ears…
You are such a gladiator, Kate. You’ve been courageous and giving. The vagal nerve is often impacted by OHS, and creates bouts of dizziness; this was a long term outcome of my surgery over 4 years ago. I was instructed to increase my salt intact. Hah- can do. The monitor... Read more.
Kai is as official as they come. Sweet pup! And you are a fighter - always remember that! Smooth sails, my friend! 💜
I wish you lots of luck in your recovery For some of us, it’s just tough getting rid of the water. i still use a heating pad for sleeping in bed. I’ll drape it across my chest or place it under my back and warm it up. Once it is... Read more.
I am happy to see you getting some answers and hope things keep getting better bit by bit. Kai is adorable💖🫶
Hi Kate, I struggled for several weeks after surgery with pleural effusions. Around 4 weeks I had a partially collapsed lung and was re-admitted for a week, that was hard, as it was the last place I wanted to be. The doctor ordered a thoracocentesis which removed the fluid causing... Read more.
Thank you for your comments, they are much appreciated. Kai's ears are my favorite thing :)

At post surgery week 5 from OHS #3, I am noticing I am excessively tired, bored, and have many different pains in my upper body and ribs. I don’t like how I’m progressing due to other factors I’m dealing with but I knew this would be a long road for... Read more.

Lovely smiles on both your faces. You did A smart thing today! 👍
Thanks for sharing Kate. Recovery can be so hard. Are we ever going to feel normal again and what does normal even mean? You and your husband look great and I admire your courage to get out there and experience a moment. A moment of grace. Much love.
Holy Crap Kate, you look like you're just resting from a run. I had forgotten about that post cardiac depression.....
Hi Kate just to share 21july i had a MV repair! I hope the best for you
Kate, you're getting there, and spending time like this is therapeutic, both physically and mentally. And it's great that your hubby has been there the whole time. I'm sure that made the experience infinitely smoother.
Thanks for the update and wonderful photo of you and Jessie. Glad you were able to get out in the fresh air & sunshine. Prayers for continued healing!
Thank you all so much. It's weird how you can forget at times what you are going through but then you remember when you try to do something normal like go to the store and you feel exhausted and sore. Richard, LOL! :-)
Thank you for sharing. I too am having a difficult journey. I certainly thought I’d be in better shape at this point (10 weeks post op) especially as I go back to work next week and am having a bit of anxiety for how I will fair. So happy your... Read more.
