Send Lisa a NoteAbout Me
I was diagnosed with a mitral valve prolapse in my early 20’s. It runs on the maternal side of my family as my mother and grandmother had the same condition although never needed surgery. After the JJ Covid shot my heart raced and when I went for my next echo the valve was seriously altered. I was then continually monitored until it reached a point of needing the repair.
Dr. Patel came highly recommended and the staff at Lenox Hill were exceptional. Unfortunately I needed 2 blood transfusions and the drains were left in for 5 days.
I am 10 weeks now post op and remain numb from my right breast to arm pit. There is still pulling in my armpit when I stretch my right arm, tightness comes and goes, I at times feel like there is a lump between my arm and my side chest cavity.
It has been frustrating at times but I just keep trying to exercise and stretch then ice or heat the area that seems to help. I am starting cardiac rehab next week and look forward to building my strength and stamina.
