About Me

I was diagnosed 20+ years ago with MVP ( I am 52 now). In September 2022, my echo showed my regurgitation went from mod severe to severe. Had TEE end of December 2022 which showed severe regurgitation and I also had a ruptured chordae and needed to take care of pretty quickly. Had robotically assisted mitral valve repair. Had some complications during surgery where heart rate went high, medication brought it too low. The first annuloplasty ring sewn in was not working, and after a second attempt, they had to remove and put a little bigger one in. That worked, but my heart decided not to cooperate. They did an emergency cath to make sure no blockage had been missed. Then had to place a temporary pace maker. Was also having several issues and a week later had to get an ICD implanted. Haven't needed it yet, and hoping I will never need it! Wish I had found this message board before my surgery- would have had much more realistic expectations for recovery! But doing well now.
