I was diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse in my twenty's (I am 56 yrs old now). 2009 I found out I had moderate Mitral Regurgitation. Went for yearly testing, then April 2015, it changed to 'moderate/severe'. My recent echo two weeks ago shows a change to severe. My Dr. wants me to have surgery. I am hoping I am a candidate for a Robotic - repair. I won't know until I see my surgeon if I will need a repair or replacement. update: I had three opinions from surgeons . They feel positive about a repair (I guess they really don't know until they are actually in there). Both my leaflets are bad, keeping my fingers crossed! My surgery is now set for April 20th. I will have a mini-thoracotomy...
