Send Civita a NoteAbout Me
I found out I had a murmur about 5 years ago, I had been told I had a "tick" in my heart beat my whole life..Had an echo when I was around 28 but all was normal. I had an echo at time of murmur and told I had a bicuspid valve and mild stenosis.. had echoes every year and then every 6 months as it got to moderate about 2 years ago.. this past April I was told I had severe stenosis, but no symptoms.. I do boxing as work out and elliptical with HR to 150-160 and no symptoms. Had a stress test and did great. I did see two surgeons in two large Boston hospitals and both felt that at this time surgery was not warranted. But, I have echoes every three months.. just had one for July and its stable.. So.. next one October. This site has been amazing in calming my nerves around surgery. Seeing all the great results is so encouraging. I've read Adam's book and it helped so much in my understanding what I am going through.. I know surgery is more than likely in the future and I feel I can deal with it better than before finding this site.. though I don't post much, I've read many of your stories and thank you for sharing them. I am now 55 and still don't know which valve I would choose.. I'm pretty active, no real athlete, and don't want to be bogged down with Coumadin, but also another surgery is scary.. I've asked a few of the members why they chose what they chose and they all have great answers.. Again, I'm still so undecided.
