Quick update! My recovery from BAV repair and ascending aortic aneurysm repair on 5/12 was going very well and I was walking 9000 steps per day and feeling well. Then I started getting more short of breath, initially with stairs and inclines, then just with walking across the room. I... Read more.
Hang in there…just a minor speed bump in your overall recovery
My hubby had the same thing but they didn't notice the fluid build up until he collapsed. He's now been home 3 weeks and improving sooo much quicker. You'll get there once the fluid is gone.
I wish I could give you a hug... the same thing happened to me. And I was at CC too. Prayers that you are on the road to full recovery after this.
I am so scared of this happening and how to prevent it. Did they have you weigh every day and track if you went up 3 lbs? Were you able to do your spirometer still?

Hi y’all 👋 I’m reporting back from a mini-sternotomy last Wednesday at CC with Dr Svensson and team. He repaired my bicuspid aortic valve and replaced my ascending aorta with a Dacron graft. I was in the ICU for two days because of a lack of beds o

Wonderful report and you look great!! I hope you do well with recovery and can enjoy those days off. You might try putting a pillow under your knees. It seems to take some tension off of your spine. Hang in there for a bit. You’ll be curled up in that... Read more.
Never in a billion years would I think you just had open heart surgery. Can I have what you’re having?! As for restful sleep, besides the wedge, extra pillows or a recliner, it is matter of time.
Congratulations Jill, you are now in recovery YAY! You look great. Continued good health and God Bless you
Jill - Yay! You did it! You look terrific! It's good to have you on the recovery side!
Thanks everyone! So happy to be in this phase ❤️‍🩹
Deena - you’re too funny! Seeing all of y’all conquer this helped me maintain perspective through it. So grateful 💕
Thanks Adam for creating this space and for writing your book! Knowing what to expect is half the battle!
Pillows are the key. Surround yourself with several under your arms etc. That seemed to help me a lot. I am a side sleeper but slept on my back for some time after surgery. And use your heart pillow as well when you sleep. Good luck!
