He did rounds every day, stopping to say a few words to me. I had complications with afib and low heart rate. I spent 11 days in ICU there. One day, he said, "We have to wait for your heart to tell us what to do." He doesn't rush into what might not be the best course.

He did all my pre-op testing in one day! I was referred by my cardiologist and it was set for me to go to Cleveland and have lab work, see a cardiologist, have an Echocardiogram, an EKG, and a CT of my heart, then see the surgeon in the afternoon!

All my tests were completed by my appointment time! He compared my new testing to my old testing and explained everything in terms that me and my family understood! He told me my stenosis was severe and recommended surgery as soon as possible! I left there on March 12, 2020 with a surgical plan and a surgery date of March 24, 2020! All the shutdowns for COVID-19 were just beginning and I was so worried that my surgery would be postponed but I called and spoke with Dr Svensson's nurse and she assured me that my case was considered emergent and it would be done as scheduled! I had an Inspiris tissue AVR with aortic root aneurism repair via OHS On 3/24/2020 at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. My husband was allowed to accompany me in to the hospital and to the pre-op holding area! When I went into surgery he was allowed in the waiting room and spoke with the doctor after surgery! He was allowed to see me once, I was still asleep and on a ventilator but at least he knew I was ok and in good hands! My daughter actually called me on my cell phone that same day... My nurse had just gotten it out of my bag and plugged it in. She handed it to me and it rang... I do not remember what I said but I did talk to her!! lol 😂

The nurses were really awesome! It was hard not having my family there to help me but it was motivating to push me to do everything they ask and more so that I could go home as soon as possible! I was discharged on Saturday after my surgery to a hotel with my husband for two days! I saw the nurse practitioner on Monday morning and was discharged to home!

They were completely wonderful in Cleveland and I feel fortunate to have this behind me! I am focused on my recovery now!!"

"Dr. Svensson is legendary for a reason: He is incredibly bright, friendly, serious, direct, warm...and fast. There is very little he hasn't seen in his career. I felt complete confidence in his ability to address my fairly complex surgery, which included a valve, root, ascending aorta and single-bypass. When an incidental finding threw a slight wrench in my recovery, he personally took charge with confidence and humor. He personally stopped by every morning during his rounds. And the days he was off, in his place were his highly personable, talented and friendly surgical fellows.

His entire team is impressive, from his secretary Rhonda; to Becky his coordinating nurse; to Diana and Pam, his nurse practitioners, and Sandi, his holistic nurse ...and others on the surgical team, including those who ran the heart-lung machine. The latter two, charged with keeping the blood flowing while my heart was halted, stopped by the ICU to say hi. There was always someone there. I can't rave enough about the cardiac ICU/step-down nursing teams at Cleveland Clinic, but it all filters down from the top. I was fortunate to have Dr. Svensson as my surgeon and can't recommend him highly enough.

Surgical results: My recovery has been going faster than I expected. Pain-wise, I was on only Tylenol after several days. Despite having a full sternotomy, my sternum doesn't really hurt. Best of all, my heart is beating."

"I live in Northwest Florida. After much research, I decided to have my surgery done by Dr. Lars Svensson at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. This was the best decision I have ever made. I was thrilled when his assistant told me that he had reviewed my records (the day he received them I might add!) and was willing to do the surgery.

I needed surgery to replace my aortic valve and remove an ascending aortic aneurysm. Dr. Svensson planned my surgery perfectly. I arrived on Saturday, February 14, was tested February 16 and 17, and met with Dr. Svensson on February 18, 2015, the day before my surgery. "I traveled from Louisiana to Cleveland for an Aortic Valve surgical evaluation by Dr. Svensson. His calm, confident manner in explaining my particular situation (severe left ventricle dilation, but no symptoms) was very reassuring.
