Hi all, just a quick question for those who have had their surgery... how often are you scheduled for an echo? I'm 3 years out & scheduled for every other year ( that's for the echo, I do have a yearly appointment), curious as to others schedules. Best wishes to... Read more.

After my first yearly checkup, they didnt seem interested in doing more, unless I had symptons or concerns. They said because the current valves, mine a bovine bio prosthetic, are so good that they dont worry as much. That seems a bit odd since I was asymptomatic even when severe.... Read more.

Barbara - I asked for a stress test and echo at my two year appointment - both were normal. I'm headed to the cardiologist next week a few months shy of my third anniversary, so I'll find out if I need another echo. Good question! â¤

Hi Barbara. I have only annual visits to cardiologist and see my family physician evey 6 months. I have not had an echo since I've fully recovered.

5 years out I have an echocardiogram once a year and see my cardio twice a year. Take care Barbara.

Was in the middle of mitral valve repair surgery one year ago today! Here's what a one year old scar looks like :) Thanks & best wishes everyone!

Looks Great Barbara.. mine is still red! but then the scar from my foot surgery is just getting light and that was 3 years ago.. UGH.. I have way too much pink in my skin... you would think having been born in Italy I would have some olive tones.. hahaha..... Read more.

Thanks! I had a pediatric surgeon - guess he knew how to take the tiny stitches, & I followed Ritas advice & tried to keep it covered in the sun. Oh yeah, my cleavage scar...nice while it lasted:)

Yes, that WSJ article was concerning- I was glad to see this one. I had a maze with a mitral valve repair a year ago...so far no more AFib. Hope yours is successful too Jim...best recovery wishes!
