One year after surgery. Everything is fine. But recently I notice I have PVC. I can feel it when it occurs. Normally it occurs more at the time when I go to bed or in the morning. My Apple Watch EKG can catch it as well. No symptoms and heart... Read more.
😂 Rose Madura reacted to this
I had them about 18 months or so after my surgery. My cardiologist put me back on Amlodipine which along with the Metoprolol that I was already on. That took care of it for me. Hope they go away soon for you.
I didn’t realize Apple Watch could recognize PVC. Mine only tells me if I’m in sinus or not. I know I had PVC when I was in cardiac rehab, but when I asked the doctors they said it is very common and as long as it doesn’t persist it is... Read more.
I scarcely have felt PVC since my mitral surgery. It's true that I take a good cocktail of medications: in the morning, losartan and bisoprolol; at lunch, aldactone and jardiance; and at night, lixiana. As a result, my stomach is in a mess. Do you take that much medication? Hugs... Read more.
Rose, do you still on these medicines? Or PVC went away after some time? I only take aspirin currently
@ Yumiko, Apple Watch EKG will show a peak beat like below. If number of PVC is three times in one EKG, I find it still says “SR”. If more than that, the result of that EKG will show ” in conclusion”
Yes I am still on the medications. However, my cardiologist challenged me to lose some weight and then I may be able to get off the meds.
@ Ruiz, taking so much medicine can be tough. I still remember first week post surgery. I wish you have quick recovery.
Thanks Maggie, I think the same, I´ll try to convince my cardiologist to reduce the amount of pills😊
About a year after my OHS I started having pretty frequent and noticeable PVCs. I tried taking OTC magnesium, which helped for a couple of months, but then the PVCs returned. A year later, I added OTC CoQ10 to my daily routine. About two months after that, I suddenly realized... Read more.
I'm going through the same issue, though my ECG looks very different. I have a "skipped" beat" that usually starts in the afternoon and increases in the evening, then disappears in the morning. Are they doing a Holter monitor/stress test?
Mine is an extra beat. I don’t notice them as much now as I did in the immediate months following surgery. I backed off to 1 half cafe coffee in the morning and have been no alcohol anyway. I notice the PVCS when stressed but they may still be there.... Read more.
I started to get PVCs a couple of months after surgery. Doc had me wear a holter monitor which showed a 5% burden which is acceptable. About a month later they went away on their own
Update on my PVC: I had follow up visit today with my cardiologist. The result of two week heart monitor shows only 1% PVC and blood test shows everything is ok. Doctor told me nothing need to be done and no issue
I was surprised it’s so low. One week ago I started QOC10, it sounds help. At least I don’t notice the strong beat of PVC any more. I also don’t check my apple EKG as well. With today’s result from my visit, I’ll just ignore it.
You are probably hyper aware and noticing the 1% of the time it does happen. Glad you check it out and the doctor says it’s okay!

Update post surgery 8.5months: I had echo and follow up with my cardiologist today. My cardiologist told me my heart size( left atrium) is back to normal size. Heart muscles are very strong. EF is normal. New mitral valve functions beautifully ( looks natural). I only take aspirin now and... Read more.
Yes . I’m very grateful for that
That's great to hear. However, it is my understanding that once you heart chamber was enlarged, even if it reduces in size after surgery, it may retain some stiffness because the wall thickness increased. That can lead to various complications. So make sure you visit a cardiologist twice a year... Read more.
