Send Tracy a NoteAbout Me
Hi, my name is Tracy. Let me start by thanking Adam and all of you who have provided and shared so much valuable information for a new comer like me. I wish I had found this community before my valve surgery.
I learned I had heart murmur due to mitral valve regurgitation in my 30's. Thirty years later in 2019 my echo showed that I had a mild dilated ascending aorta and condition of moderate aorta regurgitation. I was put on active surveillance and didn't have any symptoms until 2021. At the end of 2021, both my mitral valve and aortic valve regurgitation changed from moderate to severe. I was quickly scheduled for an OHS for mitral valve repair, aortic valve replacement and aorta graft surgery at the end of February 2022.
I had a couple of complications after the surgery, afib and pericardial effusion (fluid around the heart). The medical team was excellant, able to take care of them quickly. I am well into my recovery now ( four months after my surgery).
My Medication updates:
Immediately after the Surgery, I was put on baby asprin (along with Pepcid) to prevent blood clot, and Statin to lower my cholesterol (my cholesterol was on borderline before the surgery). After Afib, Amiodarone was added to my medication list to help heart rythm and Coumadin to prevent blood clot. Coumadin was discontinued three weeks later (3/31/2022) because that might have caused fluid built around my heart.
