Question: I'm 18 months post aortic valve replacement and just had a cardiologist appointment. I had an echo after 6 months to get a new baseline, but just went a couple weeks ago and my cardiologist didn't do another one. He said everything looked good on the EKG and sounds... Read more.
The cost cutting mindset is alive and well. If you want it, demand it. I mean, ohs is a big deal and it is appropriate to get it. If you feel great and dont care - then follow the cadence. Trick if you personally want it - tell him/her you... Read more.
I usually get one every year, and I just had my nine year anniversary. But like J Alexander Lassally said, the cost-cutting mindset is real in medicine.
After my valve surgeries I have echo every 12 months, also when I get my platelets checked and they get low that also shows that my valve is leaking. Getting ready for my third valve replacement. Hoping to get the Ross procedure at the Cleveland heart clinic. We'll see if... Read more.
I am in the land if not often. Two years post mini aortic replacement and i have not had one. Then again I keep good records on my heart performance. I do not think it is cost cutting simply I really do not need one at this time. ask your doc... Read more.
My surgeon did a follow up ECHO & CT on me at 4 months and I think we are planning on another one around 16 months. I told my cardiologist that I’d forward the results to him. I’m doing a 10-months EGK with my cardiologist in a couple weeks.
I called, voiced my concerns and am getting one scheduled.

One year anniversary of OHS/SAVR at Cleveland Clinic & Dr Roselli. Keep it up heart warriors.
Great news Geoff! I'm getting a new Aorta with Dr Roselli 10/27. Did you have a mini-VAR or full SVAR?
Cool. Thanks. One more question, if you don't mind, which valve did you get, make and model? Thanks in advance
It was a bovine Edwards Inspiris, 27mm. Good luck! You'll do great!
Thanks, Geoff. Here's hoping you have 20 or more years of a wonderful heart!
Looking great! Happy Anniversary. What a nice feeling after a year❤️

In honor of my valve replacement OHS, I got this tattoo yesterday. It's a heart being sewn up & fixed with my new heartbeat
🥰 ❤️ Pamela Gregory, Melissa Baker and reacted to this
I love this. I want one bad but now on blood thinner and they won’t do it. Plus 83, thin skin. I got one with the oldsmobile logo at 78 but it bled a lot and is a little fuzzy. Yours looks crisp.i would say what my lovely wife said... Read more.
Fantastic. Tell me the psychology of the experience for you - the pain of it versus expectation. Did you feel a victory when complete. The pleasure / pain part sort of a controlled labor of love post surgery. In a way, for me, it is like a "F-you" to the... Read more.
I'm not a tattoo person but it's a great one! 👍
Thanks, it's more of a badge of honor for my experience. (& Yes, this is a sensitive area for such a needle)
That's very cool. I've always wanted to get on, but it wasn't recommended with blood thinners.
