I have followed my heart murmur for the last 28 years. At 63, I failed my stress test (12/27/23), my blood pressure went down as my execution went up. I retired June 2023 to focus on my vestibular schwannoma (benign brain tumor). Started getting in shape for the surgery. I ended up with radiation but glad I started on my health improvement. I went in for a MI-AVR at Duke on 3/21/24. Dr. Gaca did a great job. I was in ICU recovery before 10:00 on Thursday and took two walks that afternoon (day 0). I went step down on Day 1 to general recovery, and was released on Day 3. I have started my at home recovery Day 4. Everything is going well right now.
