Received call from cardiologist's office today, letting me know yesterday's echo shows moderate aortic stenosis and that my cardiologist believes it will be time to replace my valve again in a year. I knew tissue can fail early, but I'm shocked nonetheless, since last year's echo was great. My case... Read more.

Hi Catie, it is disheartening to have to go thru what you are experiencing. But you got thru it once and will be fine the next time also. You never know how our bodies are going to react and all we can do is remain strong and faithful. Follow your... Read more.
Hi Catie, yes this is tough news. I'm sorry to hear this. I pray you find peace and that your appointment goes well. What kind of tissue valve dis you get? I wonder what caused it to fail? God bless you.
I am so sorry, Catie... the last type of news you want to get. Prayers that all will be resolved and you will be well. Many hugs!
Very sorry to hear that news! Please keep us posted on what happens. Will be saying prayers for you!
So sorry to read this news, Catie. It seems like there are new valves released to the market all the time. Hopefully, by the time you need the surgery there will be the perfect replacement for you. Wishing you all the best! ❤🙏
Hi Catie, I am so very sorry to learn this news. So tough. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you prepare for the next step in your treatment. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Hugs!
HI Catie, I am so very sorry. If I remember correctly, you did it all on your own last time with no outside support. You are a very strong woman, but I would never wish this kind of news on anyone so soon after a major surgery. Are you living... Read more.
Oh No! So sorry to hear this! I have had stomach/gastrointestinal issues ever since my surgery. It is minor, but present. I am only on a baby aspirin a day for medication which I assume plays a role. We are so sorry you are going through this. Good luck at... Read more.
Thank you all so much for your kind words and encouragement. I'm not doing well at all, emotionally, but I think that's to be expected at first. I have very high anxiety even in the best of times. But please know, I really, REALLY appreciate your supportive words. Rose, the... Read more.

Has anyone else had their sneezing change since OHS? Ever since my surgery, when I sneeze, I really SNEEZE! I've always had healthy, serial sneezes, usually 5-8 in a row, never just one. But the sneezes feel sooooo much stronger and more intense.

Yes! Mine feel stronger and i also sneeze five or six times in a row. Strange, huh?
Me too..... I think we are so afraid to fully sneeze after surgery so we compensate by short small ones. After 4 years I still sneeze short and small multiple sneezes 😊
Phyllis, so sorry you suffer those! I hope you can get relief.... Good to "see" you!

Late this morning I saw that a cuticle on one of my big toes showed signs of infection. It's very minor, but as soon as I completed a scheduled appointment, I boogied over to urgent care to get it seen. After explaining that I have a prosthetic heart valve, I... Read more.
I wonder if the same applies to valve repair??
Helen, I just consulted a few reputable articles, including ones by a Mt. Sinai physician and American Heart Assn. Folks who've had valve repairs are still considered high risk for endocarditis and have to take prophylactic antibiotic before dental procedures as a safeguard against endocarditis. I would think the same... Read more.
Phyllis, thank you. It's minor. But I didn't think a reminder for us to be careful would hurt. :)
Thanks for posting this. I'm having my surgery on Friday and no one mentioned this issue with me. It's good to know.
I was told that I have to pre-medicate before dental procedures by my cardiologist, but I've done it for decades after being told I had a prolapse.
Good reminder for those of us with "cow parts" in our hearts..
Good information. Yes, be sure to pre medicate for dental procedures.
Susan, same here, decades, with the dental. But wanted to remind about skin infections.
