I am a 69 year old, retired RN, very healthy, happy, living my life, trying to figure out what to do in retirement. Was diagnosed, quite by accident, with severe mitral valve regurgitation, moderate tricuspid valve regurgitation and enlarged heart. Feel fine, except when going up stairs, and general fatigue. Urgent referral to surgeon, truly expected him to say that I could come back next year to be checked, but after consultation, I signed the consent forms, and here we go. Had surgical repair of mitral valve December 20, 2017. Fast forward to ECHO 5 weeks post op in February and results showed moderate mitral valve regurgitation. Disappointed but decided to just live my life and wait until next ECHO in October. Results showed severe mitral valve regurgitation again. So, back to hospital in February 20,2019 for mitral valve replacement and repair of tricuspid valve. Surgery was easy, I felt great post op, no pain, no problems. Had Afib post op and eventually had a cardioversion May 7, which was successful. I am now feeling great, back to my old self, no problems. For those awaiting surgery, sending you best wishes.
