Well I came here after realizing I hadn't posted anything after that poem. I graduated from cardiac rehab in May and I'm out running again, when I find the time which lets face it with two kids under four isn't often. I've been on two amazing work trips where I... Read more.

Recovery I can now do the things. The things that seemed so insurmountable and simultaneously so mundane. I can breath, walk, manage flights of stairs without the constant edema, angina, and it feels great. But it also feels foreign. My body has the muscle memory of pain. I can keep... Read more.

Hi Carolyn! You and I have been on the same road! All my muscles were/are in the state of rebuilding. I have been at it for over 2 years now! When I read your post, it was like...yes! There is someone else out there who gets this...lol But keep going!!!... Read more.
I can so relate to your story. I can't let go of feeling short of breath. I am still trying to figure out if it is anxiety or something else. I had mitral valve repair and it was successful but I still feel that particular symptom. It went undiagnosed for... Read more.
It's okay to not be okay. I hear you. Thanks for your poetic and very honest post. Writing can be therapeutic. And there is much to process after such a physical ordeal. Take care. Take it slow.
It’s weird how much healing and recovery is a mental process. People who haven’t been through it focus on the physical pain and scars, but they don’t really get how emotionally taxing it all is.

I feel this. I am still testing my boundaries of what I can do without becoming wiped out… have had to hold myself back for so long. So far, mostly so good. It's a little scary though.
Well stated CW. I just took a first walk up a hill I used to breeze up. I had to just keep asking myself, "This is OK. I am OK." It was. Small triumphs.

That's great, J. Alexander! I had a fall after a dizzy spell recently and don't want my life to become small again out of fear… working on staying positive and pushing through 😊
This is such important information for all of us—thank you all for sharing. I fell off a ladder over a year ago and though, by some miracle, there were no breaks or fractures, or even bruising, I was convinced I no longer had any range of motion. My PT had... Read more.
Thanks so much everyone for the responses. I feel so seen. Here's to hoping my working through some trauma here with some writing and commiserating lessons the mental effort just by naming it. 🙏

Been almost 1 weeks since my TAVR to replace my severely stenotic Edwards bovine prosthetic aortic heart valve. I posted recently that I was able to have two kids. About 1 year ago I noticed increasingly worsening symptoms, short of breath, chest pain etc. Having had both SAVR and TAVR... Read more.
Great report! I love the picture. Continued good health to you. ❤️‍🩹
Glad to hear your story, Carolyn. I just had a SAVR replacement of my aortic valve and aneurysm repair, and I am very much hoping I can do a TAVR if this valve wears out in 10-15 years. My surgeon used a 27mm Edwards Inspiris, so it should be big... Read more.
Great to hear how much better you are feeling after the TAVR so soon. Wishing you well in your continued recovery ❤️
