Send Mike a NoteAbout Me
My TAA was discovered like most where you’re not looking for it, it just finds you 😊
I’m thankful that I know, although at first, I was miffed off, again, like most.
The first measurement from a Coronary Calcium Scan was 4.7 in July 2022 performed at Touchstone imaging. An Echo performed in October 2022 confirmed that I have a BAV. Fast forward to this past week roughly 5 months after the echo and CT showed a growth of 2mm, so now at 4.9cm.
My surgery will be at Centura St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, CO.

When I discovered that my first surgeon that I was referred to was retiring I decided to find my own. With the help of this site I was able to find Dr Rudersdorf with Cardiac & Thoracic Associates. I'm very happy that I found him.
My initial consult went well on 3/28. He wanted a gated CT and my follow up appointment on 5/30 to review. Since my ascending and descending are greater than 2 (TAA 4.7:2.1), I also have a bovine arch that was found in the gated CT as well as a BAV that was confirmed last year with an echo, I am good to move forward with surgery.
8/16/23 is the day!
BAV, Bovine Arch, TAA 4.7x4.6 which is more than 2x the size of descending (2.1)
PLAN:
Repair of ascending aortic aneurysm,
alternative cannulation and hypothermic circulatory arrest,
LIMA-LAD,
Possible AVR (TISSUE),
Excision of Left atrial appendage (LAA)
