It’s been 8 years since I had my aortic valve replaced with the Trifecta valve. I was shocked to find out it’s failing and I have severe stenosis right now. I finished chemo in March and radiation a month ago and this Tuesday I will be getting a TAVR procedure.... Read more.
Marilyn, I wonder if the failure has to do with the chemo? Anyway, I don't have any information or experience with that valve. I hope you find answers soon.
I just celebrated my 8yr Anniversary also with the Edwards Lifesciences Bovine Tissue valve. My Thoracic surgeon agreed with me that they are the Gold standard when it comes to design & a longevity track record of performance. ,,,,,,,,,,just my .02 cents
Unfortunately, the Trifecta valve ( an equine tissue valve) has a history of early valve failure. I believe it has been removed from the market. I would ask the cardiologist about it.
Yes, my cardiologist did say they are not using the Trifecta any more. I also think that the chemo may have also made it deteriorate sooner. Really hope to get a good amount of time from this TAVR valve.
That's difficult news to receive. Glad TAVR is an option for your replacement. These bio valves are continuously improved; hopefully, the latest models will give you significantly longer use. Please keep us posted. Good luck! ❤️

It’s been two years today that I had my aortic valve replaced. I’ve been doing great. After a year of going to rehab I started having pain in my hip. It got so bad that I had to quit exercising. After getting x rays I got an injection and had... Read more.
Hi Marilyn, I take calcium supplements because I have severe osteoporosis. I take the Metagenics brand CalApatite Bone Builder Forte. I take 1200 mg daily plus 4000 IU vitamin D daily to help my bones. So far by making sure I get enough calcium my bones haven't deteriorated further (fingers... Read more.
Research - Google or YouTube Vitamin K 2 - 7 Also concerns about taking calcium supplements on their own and why for heart/vascular reasons. Have just had 6 week post AVR. Chest X-ray shows sternum completely healed. Have been on K2 - 7 for the past 5 weeks but not... Read more.
Most Western diets tend to be rich in calcium but still there is a problem. Northern Japan eat Natto, very rich in Vitamin K 2 - 7 and have very little osteoporosis - calcium is carried by D3 and K2 - 7 from soft tissue(arteries) to the bones and teeth... Read more.
I was recently diagnosed with osteopena and family doctor put me on 1200 mg of calcium and 400 iu of vitamin D3. I heard where calcium was not good for heart - that it would cause calcification on valves so I called my cardiologist who suggested I reduce Calcium to... Read more.

It was 1 year ago today that I had my aortic valve replaced at Cleveland Clinic. When I think back and remember how bad I felt before my surgery and how great I'm feeling now I am truly amazed! Even though there were ups and downs during recovery, it's the... Read more.
