About Me

I was informed I had a heart murmur almost 4 years ago when I was being examined by a physician's asst. before an out patient procedure at my local hospital. That was news to me. So, I consulted a cardiologist. At that time he told me I had a mild case of Aortic Stenosis. Over the next three+ years, each succeeding blood test, and echogram indicated I no longer had a mild case, and that I would soon be a candidate for surgery. Along the way, about six months ago, my identical twin brother exhibited similar symptoms, and had a minimally invasive Aortic Valve replacement procedure. Apparently it's a congenital defect because there is no history of heart problems in our family. I got a second opinion at U of Michigan, and I'll have my own procedure in about a month at St Vincent's Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, OH.
