Yesterday was my two year anniversary of my SAVR aortic valve replacement and aortic aneurysm repair at the University of Wisconsin hospital in Madison, WI. I've lost 55 pounds (on purpose!) and am chasing grand-kids and riding my motorcycles. Thanks again to this community for getting me through my surgery... Read more.
Congratulations on your second anniversary and continued good recovery. Enjoy it. God bless you 🙏❤️
That motorcycle looks really small. The saddle should be several inches higher and it's not an easy-rider type of motorcycle. But congrats.
Wonderful update Larry! Congratulations. 👍
Go larry, if you travel east i challenge you to a drag race. Car vs. bike lol
Thanks everyone! Richard, If I go east you're on. This little Honda scrambler is faster than it looks!
Its probably faster than my oldsmobile but it sounds good.

Hello my friends- Time for me to report on my one year anniversary of my aortic valve replacement and aortic aneurysm repair (done at the University Hospital in Madison, WI). I just had my 1yr echocardiogram, and the Edwards Inspiris bovine valve is doing fine. A couple of other surprises,... Read more.
Great to hear your report, Larry. I can’t believe it’s been a year!
Sounds like you are doing well. You look healthy too!
Great report! I also became extremely fond of sleeping in my recliner for over a year
Thank you for the update! I am a couple of months behind you (January 2024) and having similar issues. For me, my preference for sleeping on the recliner is a direct result of the back pain. As a side sleeper, a regular bed doesn’t provide any support, so I would... Read more.
Happy Anniversary, Larry! Wishing you continued good health and many decades of future celebrations! ❤️
Hi Larry - Nice to see your updates as well, and pic of the pacific side of things. Thanks for the previous words last week. I agree - side sleeping is a problem and I am quite uncomfortable at times... If you find any tricks, let me know. I'm thinking... Read more.
Great report Larry, happy anniversary. You look great. Continued good health and God bless you 🙏❤️🎊🎉

Hello friends- I need a little advice. I had an aortic valve replacement and ascending aorta graft last November 30, and will have my 1 year echo in a couple of weeks. I am currently on vacation in California and Arizona for the next ten days or so (I live... Read more.
I'd go get it checked out, better safe than sorry. Especially with swelling
Hey Larry - Firstly, I'd recheck the covid test at least two more times to make sure. If the ankles are swollen or fluid retention, I would bite the bullet and get it evaluated at the Emergency Room at one of the academic hospitals in So Cal, like USC or... Read more.
You can add Cedars to the options out there. I would take action either by going in somewhere or reaching your doctor for advice.
Thanks guys- I'm starting with my Wisco cardiologist and will go from there. We are up by Sequoia National Park, so not close to the academic hospitals. Flying home early is an option. Will keep you posted.
Put on a mask and go someplace and tell them your heart history. Bells should ring once they know one would think.
Hey Larry - I would be very worried about getting on an airplane without first being checked. Our oxygen levels drop when we fly and that could be a big problem if you are having a valve complication. The other consideration is that you are far from significant help when... Read more.
I suggest you go to an ER to get checked out. Please keep us posted.
Hi everyone- thanks for the good advice. I am at the Verde Valley ER in Cottonwood, AZ. They did a chest x-ray, ultrasound of my heart, and a bunch of bloodwork. Good news- no pericardial effusion, no pneumonia, no fluid in or around lungs. Tested positive for a rhinovirus. So... Read more.
Peace of mind for you Larry. Have a great trip!
Great to put that out of your mind! Enjoy your trip
Thanks everyone- enjoying the high desert and red rock country. Wicked head cold has kept me from doing the longer hikes, but I've done a few 1-2 milers.
Larry, Some people with no heart issues would consider that a long walk! Keep on hiking.
