Hi everybody. It’s been a while since I visited here. I hope everyone is doing well. My question has nothing to with surgery, but I’m going to ask anyway. I have original Medicare in addition to a supplemental insurance. Ever since I came home from Mt Sinai medicare has not... Read more.
I have original Medical and a Medigap policy. I have yet to pay for any doctor visit or test.
I would call the Dr.'s office an make sure they are running both insurances. I have encountered that many times with my in-laws' and parents' bills.
Check with your insurance. I called before I came NYC. The insurance agent told me since the facility is in-network. All work should covered. Sometimes the hospital may file incorrectly and the claim may be denied. She said just keep reaching out to them and they will fix it.
I used to work Medicare and Medicare Advantage Plans. You can file an appeal to help get it paid. Good luck.

Today is my 6 month mark. I can honestly say it’s like it never happened. I feel great, do whatever I want with no issues and I am stronger than ever, thanks to getting on an exercise plan and some weight training. My scar is my only reminder of what... Read more.
Congratulations Cathy!!! That's so awesome that you feel so great at just 6 months. I personally do not like rowing machines. Unless you use perfect technique it can hurt your back. Precor Elliptical Machines are really good. Very smooth so not hard on the knees and you can adjust the... Read more.
Congratulations on your recovery, Cathy! I felt the same way.. I am now approaching my 6th Valve-Versary, and it seems like the surgery happened in another life…Just a thin white scar to remind me, along with that yearly cardiology visit…

Leona, Yes, I reluctantly did rehab. Best move I made. I finished mid November but I still go and do what they call maintenance. I actually enjoy exercising now which was never the case.
Thanks Cathy! I was on the fence since I was as told I probably could do just as well myself walking but I’m thinking I’d like to go. It’ll give me the guidance and confidence I need to start an exercise routine again!
Your healing has been super star status, Cathy. I still felt tired at 6-months and we pretty much had the same surgery at the same hospital. I have used the rowing machine and also was a sculler. It really comes down to personal preference, so I can't answer your question... Read more.
I was a college rower and have used a rowing machine (or erg) quite a bit. If used properly, they provide a great workout IMO. Legs, back and arms are all involved plus cardio. As with most exercise equipment, the key is proper form. I see so many people doing... Read more.
Cathy - Congrats on your 6-month Anniversary! I used a rowing machine at cardiac rehab and I wasn't a fan. I hate exercise in general, but found that walking on the treadmill could keep me challenged with an increase in incline and speed. It's definitely a personal choice! ❤️

I am convinced that animals have a 6th sense about the pain and discomfort their loved ones are experiencinG. Human animals not so much sadly or they would be a little nicer. One only needs to look at the picture of my cassie laying next to me on the bed... Read more.
