I was diagnosed with a heart murmur at age 13 by family Doc doing my sports physical. Never thought much about it until pre-op for shoulder replacement in 2014. I had to see a cardiologist before they would do surgery.I was cleared for surgery but needed an echocardiogram. I was diagnosed with mitral valve regurgitation and have been monitored ever since. We have decided now is time since I am having some symptoms. I have had a phone consultation with Anna Costa, whom is a gem, but still waiting for a surgery date. Hopefully soon.
