Hello everyone! I've had my first anniversary of Mitral valve repair on the same day as my 35th wedding anniversary. I'm off all meds except aspirin. I was prescribed statins but had an allergic reaction to one and was given another. I have high cholesterol (250). What do you all... Read more.

Happy double anniversary. For a while I've been taking Red Yeast Rice to try to help with cholesterol but results are inconclusive. I wouldn't take any supplements without asking your PCP or cardiologist.
There are 2 types of statins, the water-loving (hydrophilic) and the fat-loving (lipophilic). Perhaps the doctor switched the type of statin you are on, and you will be fine with the new one. I am on atorvastatin 20 mg (fat loving) and it has lowered my cholesterols very effectively. Hope... Read more.

First day back on the courts since surgery last summer. Forehand and backhand are coming back to me, but serving and overhead smash will have to wait. Quick changes of direction will be a challenge, but I'm taking that slowly too. Back to work on Wednesday, March 1, teaching PE... Read more.
Don’t over due it and open up a wound. Blood on that astro turf , not a good thing. Lol.
Gotta use that underhand (pickleball) serve for a while!

You look fantastic and it is great you started coming back to your old self. Starting work will be another milestone after which I am sure you will feel even better. You are doing great! I hope until your valversary even the pain will completely go away :))))

I am so glad that you are getting back on track with your former daily activities. God Bless You! I too have had a much longer than expected recovery. But we are still here! Keep a strong body and even stronger spirit in you.
