6 of the hardest days of my life. I am home, recovering in spite of a nasty UTI. All I can say is I cried tears of joy waking up from surgery, cried tears of pain, tears of exhaustion. But, I am home with my family. In fact my surgeon... Read more.

Mary, so hard to go through all this trauma, physically and mentally. In this case, one does not want to be so special. It must feel great to be home! Thank goodness the surgeon figured out in real time how to deal with your smaller sized organs, instead of dealing... Read more.
Iรขโ‚ฌโ„ขm glad you made it through.
Welcome to recovery! Iรขโ‚ฌโ„ขm sorry your time was so difficult.
Mary - I'm so sorry to hear you had such a difficult time. Hopefully, your recovery will be better than your hospital experience. Stay positive. Better days are ahead!
I was happy waking up after surgery and all the nice nurses that took care of me. No appetite for a few days which helped me lose weight. I can't comment on the organ size. Never heard about that. As for the allergic reaction, I think that can happen. That... Read more.

I am scheduled June 5th for my first open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve. Looking for tios to prep and what to expect after getting home. We have 2 second floor bathrooms, but none on the first floor. How difficult will it be to get up the stairs... Read more.

Mary - i think you're going to want to stay on the second floor with an occasional visit downstairs for the first week or two. Most of us went home on diuretics, so frequent trips to the bathroom are pretty common. I also found the exertion associated with walking up... Read more.
I agree with Susan, steps are doable but if no bathroom on first floor, I would probably spend more time upstairs than down for a few weeks after surgery, at least. Cute doggie!
Mary, I totally agree with my little Angel รฐลธหœโ€ก Susan Lynn. At least for the first two weeks or four. Blessings รฐลธโ„ขยรขยยครฏยธย
I agree with Susan and grace about the bathroom but you also need to walk after. Not sure if the second floor is conducive to that. Can you add a treadmill (used) to move. It looks like you have the room and I am sure there are used ones out... Read more.
Thank you everyone!!! 1st, yes she is very cute little boxer dog. My Winnie. My husband told me tonight he has a TV coming and a treadmill. So, now I just need to find a comfortable chair and a mini fridge. I appreciate the feedback so much. I agree that... Read more.
My home is 3 stories but there is a powder room on the first floor. I essentially lived in the living room where there is space for a recliner. Went upstairs to shower, and that was fine, but I agree with others that youรขโ‚ฌโ„ขre not going to want to have... Read more.

This was last fall at Yellowstone National Park. I hope it back because I didnt see any wolves in my travels. I had my TEE (which was far worse than the angio) and only need surgery on my aortic valve which is huge relief. I woke up from TEE and... Read more.
