About Me

I was diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis in March, 2024. At first my cardiologist and I discussed having a TAVR. I had my appointment with the cardiothoracic surgeon who would be present during the TAVR. He felt I was too young. I was 68 at the time. I was also asymptomatic. I went to the University of Virginia Heart and Valve Center. The cardiovascular surgeon and cardiologist also agreed a surgical valve would be better. As the year progressed I became symptomatic. I went back to UVA for the surgery. Dr. Kern and his team were exceptional. I am now 10 weeks out and feel much better. Cardiac Rehab has been very important for my recovery!
