I received positive news from yesterday's check up with my cardiologist. My lungs are finally clear. She said the irregular heartbeat is normal at this stage of healing as is my need for a touch of Losartan to keep my blood pressure down. I graduate cardiac rehab next week and... Read more.
Great news Sharon, and thank you for the feedback. I was operated 3 month ago and have a lot of irregular heartbeats too 😉

At almost 2 months post mitral & tricuspid repair, I suddenly have intermittent low heart rate around 40-42. In response, the cardiologist took me off metoprolol, kept me on 12.5 mg Losartan for post-op high blood pressure, and taped a heart monitor to me last Thursday for a 7 day... Read more.
Isn't that funny how we are flanking the spectrum - Still too high here - 100 bpm sometimes, and you are too low. Where is our moderation? I will write you a note Sharon... p.s. how many minutes are you on treadmill. I have yet to start cardiac rehab. Doing... Read more.
Sharon, my post-surgery heart rate often dipped into the mid 40's. My cardiologist cut the metoprolol dose from 100mg twice daily to 50mg extended release, left me on 25mg losartan, and that seemed to take care of it - 50's and 60's most of the time now. Trick is to... Read more.
Thanks guys. I see we are all just adjusting in our own ways!
J Alexander, my heart rate is still in the 100’s, but sometimes into 90’s at rest. I’m now 3 months post op and will have an echocardiogram tomorrow in Denver. I am doing rehab 3 times a week and it is so helpful! I have another month to go.

At first I laughed nervously at the title, but by the end of the song, I was a... Read more.

Thank you for sharing, my incision is over 8 inches. They really cracked me open. I wear it proudly.
Quick question! I am scheduled for minimally invasive mitral valve repair or replacement on 1/23/24. In trying to plan for my recovery at home, how long do you folks think my husband needs to stay home with me? He wants to visit his mother for her 95th bday about 3... Read more.
Beautiful! I was just going to say it reminds me of Rising Appalachia, then I saw the credits! Thanks for sharing. 💕
I am just 6 months post mitral valve replacement with a sternotomy. Initially , I was thrown back when my surgeon, Dr Marc Gillinov , Chairman of Thoracic Surgery @ the Cleveland Clinic recommended sternotomy . I had read so much about minimally invasion surgeries, but I chose to accept... Read more.
Dawn - 3 weeks is kind of a turning point for more independence and ability to do more, and if you do not have sternal precautions from minimally invasive, then you may be okay to be solo.
I was pretty perky after minimally after 3 weeks. I say visit his mother.
Dawn, after minimally invasive repair I could live at home without major problem as soon as discharged.
