I’m back! It’s been a whirlwind, but I am grateful to say surgery was successful and that I was able to come home from the hospital on Monday 1/9. Finally getting into a routine at home but definitely taking one day at a time. I’m still having some back pain, stomach distention, and numbness in my right upper leg. I can really feel my heart beating inside my chest and stomach especially when laying down. I would say the most troubling thing I’ve dealt with since surgery is the fact that my taste buds and appetite are off. Things I liked to eat before are no good. I was told this is a side effect from the anesthesia and could take a while to resolve (My surgeon and his team know about all of the above issues). I truly appreciate all of the love and support I have received on here. All of the informative and encouraging posts helped me prepare for surgery and show me that there is life after heart valve surgery and it is a good one.
