So after a few months of tests and preparations, and mental anxiety, I have been told that my mitral valve repair surgery has been cancelled. My TEE came back inconclusive, so yesterday I had to have a bicycle echocardiogram. That was an experience! Laying down on a table and having... Read more.
That's great news, Peggy! Some people live their entire lives with regurgitation and never require surgery. You may be one of those lucky ones! Medical advancements only improve - if you do have surgery in your future the techniques will be even better. Enjoy another year and cross that bridge... Read more.

As it gets closer to my surgical date of October 20, I find myself getting more nervous. I have tons of confidence in Dr. Bolling, but am anticipating being in tremendous pain, which I don't handle real well. The notebook U of M Hospital gave me to read pretty much... Read more.
Take the drugs for the time you are in the hospital - and maybe a few after you get home - then put them down - its amazing what Tylenol can do - trust me when I tell you the waiting is the hardest part - you are going to... Read more.
Donรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt anticipate tremendous pain. I, too, was worried about it, but honestly, pain was not a huge issue. My upper back and shoulder muscles bothered me way more than my chest did. I was uncomfortable, but not in tremendous pain. Looking back, some muscle relaxants would have helped. I would... Read more.

Dr. Bolling did my repair and he is a rockstar like Adam said. I was nervous too but only had to take Tylenol for the majority of my 5 days. You will do great and so will he! Praying for a quick recovery for you.
Iรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve found that anticipation of pain is often way worse than the actual pain. I was scared because I didnรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt know what to expect, but I think that the arthroscopic meniscectomy on my left knee was more painful than my minimally invasive robotic MV repair.
My pain from open heart repair of my mitral valve was not as bad as I thought. The first two days youรขโ‚ฌโ„ขll need some good stuff, but at 48 hours post-surgery, still in the hospital, I moved to 2 regular Tylenol every 4 hours. I found the opioids unpleasant (I... Read more.

I found tonight's WEBINAR on Valve Disease and COVID helpful. Anyone else tune in?

I was unable to but hoping that Adam posts the dialogue or a video here.
I thought it was fantastic, too! The physicians and John Rowland did an outstanding job!!! Thank you, Adam! รขยยค
