Hi all, I am scheduled for surgery Feb 5, 2014 for robotic mitral valve repair by Dr. Gilinov at the Cleveland clinic. Still in shock, as just scheduled a preventive visit to cardiologist a few months back since I just had two friends have heart attacks in past year. I have no symptoms, but MVP and severe regurgitation as result of echo and ultrasound testing. Sent results from my Dallas cardiologist to Cleveland, and Dr. Gilinov said surgery indicated and best within few months, even without symptoms. At 47, two small children, still struggling with watchful waiting vs. Surgery decision, and lots of contradicting data! Concern about bypass machine cognitive damage, or other new issues not being experienced. Would love to hear from others who have been through it out in similar situation. Thankful for this forum. Don
