Happy Second Anniversary to me! It was 2 years ago today that I had my Aortic Valve replaced @ UPMC Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh. So glad to have this second chance at life!
Its been a long journey and not without issues, but bottom line....I have made it to 73 and will see my 74th the end of January....so all things considered I am truly happy. My kidneys are not behaving too well and I am being monitored, I still have some breating... Read more.

Thank you everyone for the great comments and well wishes. Every day is a gift and I am learning to make the best of each one! Today is a great day- Im here to celebrate another year!! Yeah!
Happy 2nd Anniversary Deb! My kidneys took a hit too. Apparently, 30% of open heart surgery patients experience this. They don't talk about it because you need to have the surgery anyhow. Hopefully they will control this problem for you🙏❤️

On a Happy note, after a year and 2 months, my left hand fingers have regained full sensation, the PVC's I was having have slowed to a few here and there with a raise in the Metoprolol dose, my hair has grown back in full, the pain in my sternum... Read more.

Sounds like you are doing great! Congratulations... This whole heart surgery thing gave me a new perspective and I feel better than ever despite some aches here and there, hair falling out, etc.

Has anyone had an issue with the pig valve? I am a year a 2 months past surgery the dr.s are saying the valve is tight. I have been having trouble breathing/short of breath. They are not going to do anything yet, and I have an appoint, with pulmonologist to... Read more.
One of my valves is a pig valve and so far, no issues with it. I'm sure your cardiologist has done an echo since they seem to think the valve is tight. I hope you get some answers from the pulmonologist and get to feeling better. Sorry you're going through... Read more.
oh yes, the echo is what showed it. So I am in a holding pattern for now, but just wondered if there are any others in the group that had issues with the valve. Glad you didnt have a problem,
