Yes, I had them occasionally before surgery and seems like more often since the surgery. Sometimes they turn into a migraine where nothing helps other than to sleep it off.

I had my mitral valve repaired and did get them more frequently after surgery. They've greatly reduced now, but I still get them. Thankfully, no regular migraine to go with them.

Increased auras seem to be very common after heart surgery. I had dozens and dozens of auras daily in the weeks after my surgery. Thankfully they decreased with time, and now I am back to my very rare aura without getting headaches now.

I get the ocular migraine every 5 to 10 days. Before surgery I would get 1 a month but then the headache would hit. Now I don't get the headache anymore so I am thankful. I am almost a year post op now.

Eight weeks post-op and doing great. Pain is almost gone except when I cough or sneeze. My energy level is 90%, and I start cardiac rehab on December 2. I have to say the folks at Cleveland Clinic were fantastic. Everyone was kind, considerate, and the hospital is wonderfully efficient.... Read more.
