I am on the other side of surgery. I am beyond grateful for each and everyone of you for the prayers, love, and support. We could not have done this without you all of you Second night in ICU ahead but progressing well

Good morning! We are at the week of my surgery - wow it came up fast On-X mechanical valve and a potential Bentall procedure Here we go Friday morning I appreciate all the prayers, love, and support everyone has shown!

12 days out from my mechanical valve replacement AVR I am beyond overwhelmed at times abs dealing with anxiety Any words or advice is welcome Thank you!!
Hi Thomas. Your feelings are valid. My advice would be to try to focus on the positive...you are in good hands; you are going to feel much better; and the odds are in your favor. Also, when I was feeling overwhelmed, I would get on YouTube and watch documentaries ,... Read more.
Take deep breaths, we’ve all been there in the scary waiting room, plan any calming activities in the next days - I took myself to the beach a week before my surgery, journal, listen to music, anything that can help relieve the anxiety. I focused on trust in my surgeon... Read more.
Thomas, we are all nervous before heart surgery so don’t feel alone. If its any consolation i am on my way for a colonoscopy and i am nervous about that as well. My wife calls me nervous nellie. Stay strong, it will be fine.

I was too. I found an old folk music album from my childhood and just played it on repeat until I knew every single word and chord change. Maybe your doc can prescribe something like metoprolol to help you get through the next week.
