My mitral valve prolapse was diagnosed almost 50 years ago when I was in my mid-20s. Through the years, I've had routine echos to keep a check on it. The condition was never problematic until May 2021, when my echo revealed severe mitral and moderate tricuspid regurgitation. Even then, I remained mostly asymptomatic and felt well, so the recommendation to consult with a surgeon came as a surprise. Thankfully, my husband came across this website. Adam Pick and this group have been a godsend! We did our homework, found information on recommended valve surgeons and heart centers of excellence, and read wonderfully helpful patient testimonials. On January 31, 2022, Dr. Marc Gillinov at the Cleveland Clinic successfully repaired my mitral and tricuspid valves and performed a Maze procedure. I am grateful for the excellent care I received and the support from so many.
