Happy New Year Everyone! I hope everyone is doing well. I am almost 8 months post mini aortic valve replacement. I am feeling good and strong. I am walking 3-5 miles daily and am doing other exercises as well. But I do have one question. Does anyone experience a "twinge"... Read more.

Happy New Year! Glad you are overall doing well. I still have an occasional twinge, but my echo doesn’t show anything, so I am attributing it to some kind of alignment issue. I’m almost 12 months out. The pain was worst the first couple of months. I am told it... Read more.
Thank you! I have contacted my cardiologist and my surgeon.
But it is helpful to know someone else has had a similar issue.
Just a quick update. I contacted my cardiologist and he said this was not typical and he wanted me to contact my surgeon. He said the same thing and ordered a CT scan. The scan was clear, and all looked good, and he said I was healing nicely. So, apparently... Read more.

I just had my 3 month checkup and all is good. My cardiologist said the valve sounded great. I have no restrictions - he said, "go enjoy your life, do whatever you want and have fun." I was also able to get off the Metoprolol - so that is good... Read more.
Hi Meg, glad to read that you are doing so well. My Dean is in month 7 and also going strong and doing well. It is always so good to read when people are doing so well after their surgeries.
Meg very happy for you. All the best to you. How is the hair?
Congrats Megan that’s so awesome to hear. Love the go live your life. Enjoy

Hey Valvers! Quick question, has anyone noticed any hair loss post valve replacement? I had my bicuspid aortic valve replaced May 6th. Now, the good news is I have ALOT of hair. But I have noticed in the last month that whenever I wash my hair large amounts of hair... Read more.
Yes! I had similar hair loss after other procedures, without any medication change, so I don’t think it’s the medication, it’s the procedure. It’s either the massive amount of blood thinner you are put on during the procedure or just simply the shock to your system. I lost a lot... Read more.
Yeah. I think it's a shock to your system. I felt like my hair was thinning, but it stopped after a few months. Surgery? Meds? Age? Hormonal changes? It's hard to know. You've been through a lot. Things should calm down.
Meg, Glad to hear you are feeling great. I have no comment on the hair lost as I basically was already there before surgery. Take Care
Probably the drugs they use. Rosemary oil with castor oil helps regrow hair naturally.
Oh my yes! I also have a lot of hair (thamk goodness!) And I probably lost half of it. It's finally about as thick now as it used to be, 18 months post op!
