I'm sorry Kimberly! That is my biggest fear with my surgeon not replacing my valve! Even with a smooth recovery a full sternotomy is not something I ever want to do again!!!!!

I have gained 6 lbs in the last two weeks. This is very unlike me! I don't know if it could be from the metoprolol or what, but I put a call in to my doctor's office. I know that is a concern right out of surgery... not sure if... Read more.
I did not... Could be fluid retention so it's a great idea to ask about it. Did you lose in the hospital? I lost roughly 5 lbs in the hospital.
I was down a few pounds right after surgery and now I am about 4-5 lbs heavier than I was before surgery and I am working out! I do feel like my belly is more bloated than it was before, but my cardiologist said I didn't have abnormal swelling.
I gained 15 lbs in the hospital and then lost it all when I got home on the lasix. I had been steady at the same weight but now all of the sudden, the pounds came!
It could be medication or fluid build up. Constipation doesn't help either. I know one woman in my Hospital Ward gained alot of weight after surgery due to her huge appetite and craving sweet foods like chocolate ðŸ«. I'm the opposite, I've lost alot of weight (already small enough before)... Read more.

Thanks for sharing, so glad you are feeling so good! That's what is getting me through right now- thinking that someday I won't be short of breath on inclines and will have more energy when my heart is working fully again.
