I haven't been here in a while. fact is, I've been pretty busy. I returned to work on October 7. that is the D.O.T. required three months after OHS to receive my DOT medical card. I am doing great. OHS seems like such a long time ago. I still have days when I know that I'm not 100% but they are becoming more infrequent. On those days when I don't feel so well, I have to remind myself that 3 months post-op is not that long ago. I have a new work schedule that is much more accommodating of my desire to exercise and eat better. My wife and I are now empty nesters as both of our children are in school in Fl. This has been a very tumultuous and emotional year for us. My perspective on life has changed immensely. Although I thought my Christian walk was pretty solid, the happenings of this year have deepened my faith in Christ and caused me to reconsider those things I thought were important. For anyone approaching the day of surgery, look to God for comfort. If you don't know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, take care of it this day. He gives eternal life for the future and comfort and peace for the present. And, the great thing is He doesn't remember your past! God Bless all. JPJ

We just got back from Pensacola for a quick visit with my daughter. It was wonderful. my first post op big adventure. I am pleased to report the following: While travelling through a severe storm in Auburn, a huge oak was struck by lightening and fell across the interstate. Not wanting to see traffic back up, I pulled onto the shoulder, put on my galoshes, rain beanie and PIG POWER action T-shirt and and then hoisted the oak over the guardrail thereby allowing traffic to once again flow smoothly. We exited the interstate and went to Wendy's for lunch. For some reason, since my surgery, I have a desire to root around in the dumpster for lunch instead of ordering from the menu. Maybe I'll figure it out someday. Anyway, my wife led me to the counter where we ordered lunch. Just as I was removing my galoshes, several very pretty women approached me thanking me profusely with batting eyes and fanning themselves with Wendy's table tents advertising free coffee with a breakfast biscuit, for my act of bravery they had witnessed on the interstate. It was then that the Auburn football team, returning from away game, hoisted me onto their shoulders while singing "For he's a jolly good fellow". Ok, that's a slight exaggeration. But I do feel pretty good and was able to open the trunk with the remote so my wife could load the suit cases.
