About Me

I was diagnosed with MVP when I was 22. By the time I was in my forties it was discovered that there was regurgitation, although it did not seem to cause alarm to the cardiologist. I've monitored it yearly and for the last 7 years I've had moderate to severe regurgitation. My heart has been in good shape and I don't really have symptoms however, the last few echoes have shown a dilated atrium. The surgeon is telling me to get this done while I am still healthy and my heart has not been damaged. I decided yesterday to go forward and get this over with. I must say I am terrified. I have fortunately never had surgery nor any serious illness and the prospect of going through with this is almost more than I can bare. But I know that it is necessary. I am hoping to find some comfort and support here as so many of you have come through this with great success.
