Seven months post op and recovery is coming slowly. After surgery I built my strength back up and was walking almost 4 miles a day. Then, the chest inflammation began. Cardiologist put me on gout medicine to control the inflammation. Took about a month and a half then the pain... Read more.

So sorry you are having some difficulty in your recovery. Hopefully your cardiologist helps you figure out why you’re having shortness of breath. I had that after my surgery and just found out that my lungs are clear now. Hang in there, be patient and if you believe, pray. God... Read more.
Oh no. It sounds like you've had one thing after another. I hope you and your cardiologist can work it all out...
Hi Jeff, i am 3 months postop, i also have had very uneven recovery, keep on having PVC and PAC, also while at rehab heart rate went to 160 and was short of breath and was sent to ER, next time at rehab i was not able to do same... Read more.
Oh Jrff....I’m sorry to hear you are still having issues at 7 months post op. I’ll pray the shortness of breath resolves and isn’t anything serious! Let us know.

I have been sleeping on my recliner for three weeks. I transitioned to the bed a couple of nights now my sternum and muscles around it are painful. How long did your chest pain take to go away? I'm 4 weeks out and it still hurts, especially when I breath... Read more.
I’m at 5 weeks and thought since overall I’ve been feeling so good, I can probably start sleeping in the bed again. It was a tough night. I didn’t realize how tender my torso still is all the way through. I’m going back to the recliner for a few more... Read more.

Takes time to heal .....after my 2nd heart surgery it took 2yrs to heal my sternum. Massage, infrared heat therapy, etc etc., it took that long even with treatment. Everyone is different and everyone heals at their own pace. My advice is allow your sternum to heal properly which means... Read more.
Jeff, I used a large ice packs and tylenol to help with sternum discomfort. I laid the ice pack right on my chest. Use a thin towel between u and the ice. I purchased ice pack at CVS Pharmacy.

Hi everybody. Still having episodes of shortness of breath and water retention. (Taking 40MG of Furosemide) Has anybody else had these issues at the 4 week mark? It took me slightly more than 2 weeks to lose the water weight. I think everyone is different. It's still early days (I'm only 4 weeks and a couple of days out). I hope it improves soon and seeing your cardiologist will help.
I'm glad you can discuss with the cardiologist Friday. I had a myriad of complications so I know how scary they can be. Sometimes you wonder if you'll ever get back go normal. But you will and soon you'll feel better than normal.
