I'm 37 years old, I live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and until May of 2019, I had no idea I had a valve problem. I deal with panic attacks and anxiety quite a bit, so I was at the cardiologist for something else (that turned out not to be a problem), and he noticed a heart murmur. He then scheduled me for an echo. After looking at the echo, he told me I'd need to have open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve and aortic root before the summer is over. I selected Dr. C. Craig Elkins as my surgeon, and he performed the Ross Procedure as well as an aortic aneurysm replacement successfully on July 22nd, 2019. Recovery has been going well so far.
