Hi everyone, Many well wishes to all that are entering heart surgery or have already had it, GOOD LUCK WITH EVERYTHING! I wanted to ask if anyone heard of a large papillary heart muscle?...I had my aortic valve replaced with a porcine valve in 2015 by Dr. Luis Castro at Sequoia Hospital. I am now having SOB on exertion and chest pain. I just had an cardiac catheterization which revealed minimal stenosis at the valve, coronary arteries are all good...the cardiologist seemed to think it was a condition known HCM Hypertrophic Cardio Myopathy...the surgeon said he feels it is the papillary muscle if he performed surgery he would cut some of the papillary muscle and change out both the aortic and mitral valve. They took me off my blood pressure medicine to help build up some pressure in my heart to help elevate some of my symptoms. I am trying to hold out for y daughters wedding in June it has been very stressful because I like to keep moving. If anyone has any information on this condition please pass it on. I am not as much worried about the valve replacement as I am the papillary muscle. Thank you so much.
