My PACs are still happening. Some days are worse than others. I’m not sure what triggered them or what caused them. I’ve been trying to rest a lot to see if I overexerted myself. I’m not sure if it can be caused by what I eat or how much I... Read more.
Any chance you are overdoing the caffeine? That is one common cause of PACs. Also, anxiety can be a trigger for them.
Marie always gives great advice and keeping your caffeine and stress in check may do the trick. I just developed PACs 2 1/2 years after my mitral valve surgery and now am back on time released metoprolol. Hopefully, you'll naturally get back into normal sinus rhythm. Best of luck, Jared!
I take Metoprolol and Amlodipine which, when taken together control the PVCs. Both in small doses...12 mg twice daily for Metoprolol and 5 mg for Amlodipine.
I know I get them when I'm anxious or stressed. I take 12. 5 mg of metropolol also and that seems to help.

I'm still having palpitations in the evening. I showed one of the nurses at rehab my Apple Watch ECG and she said that I'm experiencing PACs. I hope that they go away soon as they're annoying and messing with my confidence. My cardiologist is saying that the PACs could be... Read more.

I had lots of pacs after surgery too ( mitral repair ) & they seemed to be pretty common among those who had their surgeries close to mine on this forum. Also I would particularly feel them starting at about 5:00 pm, making my evenings pretty worrisome. At my 6... Read more.

Man what a difference a couple of bad days can make. My heart has been reminding me these past few days that it was just worked on, cut open, stitched together, and is figuring out how to work properly again. My Sunday stats were 119/77/74 and my weight was 193.4.... Read more.

Thanks for posting this. I have open heart surgery on Thursday this week. One comment on your question regarding taking days off and resting. Exercise always requires proper rest. So yes taking a rest day is important. Let's say you are a runner who has never had heart surgery, and... Read more.
Are you staying really well hydrated? Dehydration always caused palpitations for me. There are drops you can buy to add to your h2o to increase the effectiveness too. Or Gatorade - but that has sugar, calories. On the days I did cardiac rehab I was told not to hike or... Read more.
Jared, two things. As you take care of your physical rehab, are you keeping an eye on your emotional rehab too? You've just been through one heck of a hit and I think you need to acknowledge that and evaluate what you can do to get some balance there if... Read more.
