This is just a flagship year for my family. I had open heart on June 13th. Then we had our third baby on July 6th, which gave us 3 kids in the house 3 or under during my recovery. My recovery has gone great, but this week we found out... Read more.

wow Evan! I'm sorry to hear about your wife..., but you seem to be looking at it with some positiveness.. My prayers to her and your family.. Like OHS isn't enough! sometimes when it rains it pours!
Evan, I'm so sorry for this health scare with your wife! I hope her surgery and treatment are extremely successful! I hope 2018 is far less stressful for you all.
So sorry to hear the news about your wife! That is one stressful year. Hope everything goes well with her surgery.
Thank goodness your wife was diagnosed early. Glad to hear that your recovery has gone well. Hugs and best wishes for good health for your family.
Good attitude Evan, life happens and we just have to live with it and make the best of it 🙏
I'm happy to hear that your recovery goes well, but so sorry to hear your wife is anticipating cancer surgery. Hope all goes well with her treatment. Wishing you & your family all the best.
When it rains, it sure can pour!! Concentrate on keeping your good attitude!! Laughs help!! Then later, when she's older, you and your wife can share the story with your daughter how she fell asleep listening to a heart valve!!
Oh gosh Evan, I'm so sorry that your family has to go through more surgery this year. Thank you for sharing the lovely story of your ticking valve helping your baby sleep (my cat likes mine too).
Oh Evan...thinking of you and your family. I will keep you all in my prayers.
I was so happy to see a post from you, Evan, that i liked it before I read it. Not something to really 'like'. Your family remains in my thoughts and prayers - and I do believe all will be well. All the best to you and yours.

I had my first appointment with my cardiologist Tuesday. They did an echo and there is zero leakage at my new valve. Heart rate was in the low 50's, so they're going to back down the metoprolol for a few months then try and take me off of it. INR... Read more.
Thanks Evan for this lovely post. Your daughters are lucky to have such a great dad! Take care.
Excellent Evan. Very well summarized. Indeed, lucky daughters you have.
Great to hear, Evan! I'm glad you're doing so well!
Sounds like you are doing great. Positive attitude. What a great story you have.

Went into a-fib yesterday and my home health nurse had me go to the ER. My heart rate was bouncing between 65 and 150. They watched me for a couple hours, and with concurrence from my cardiologist bumped up my metoprolol from 50 to 75mg twice per day plus an... Read more.

Sorry to hear you had a setback. Hopefully, it's a one-off and you're moving ahead again now.
Hi Evan, So sorry to hear of this setback. I too had an afib attack plus two aflutters that landed me in ER. I am very symptomatic and it is scary. I hope this is the only setback for you.
Can't 'like' this - also glad that it's only been and hope it only stays a one-time thing. Hope you and all your girls are doing great and supporting each other!
Glad you are doing better. Are you driving yet??? Watch that increase in the Metropolol. Can make you sleepy while driving, etc( even slept thru movie out with family). Glad other things are getting better!!
That's a shame about the afib! It is really common after surgery. That's a mighty big dose of metoprolol too- I'd think you'll notice more tiredness, lightheadedness with that increase. Best wishes, let us know how it goes.
I am so sorry about the afib Evan. That sounds really scary to me. Thank goodness it is under control. How do you recognize afib? My heart rate goes up to the mid 140's at least once a day. I assumed it was normal.
