I should add that I just wore a holter monitor for 48 hours but haven't seen the cardiologist yet for the results.

I haven't checked in here for a very long time. My mitral valve repair was September 2022. Recovery was quite long and arduous. I have been on metoprolol and bisoprolol to lower heart rate. But it also lowered my blood pressure too much and I am currently not on anything.... Read more.
Sorry to hear about the problem heart rate and BP. Is your heart rate regular? Have you had any atrial fibrillation? Sometimes when your heart rate is ranging from 48-120 and is irregular, that might be a fib. Just a thought…
Before my surgery I was taking a combination of midodrine (raises BP), propranolol (lowers BP but not as much as metoprolol), and digoxin (does not affect BP). That helped control the runaway heart rate I had from persistent afib. After surgery I was on metoprolol but they quickly took me... Read more.
I had the same thought as Marie. Your symptoms were what I had when I experienced Afib
@Marie Myers, @Yumiko Ishida, @Rose Madura Thank you for your responses. I just wore a holter monitor for 48 hours but haven't seen the cardiologist yet for the results. I wear an Apple watch which gives me readings all day long. Never says I am in Afib, but always Sinus... Read more.
The holter monitor should give you some answers. Hopefully the cardiologist can tweak your meds to solve your symptoms! Keep us posted!

I am thinking I should be 100% by now but I still tire easily and from all your responses it sounds like the dizziness and double vision is normal. How long till you had all your energy back?
You will get a million different responses to your questions. I don’t say answers because we all heal at our own rate. I imagine age, previous to surgery health and many other factors including the surgeon that performed the surgery, contribute to how fast we regain our strength. If i... Read more.
I am not convinced dizziness and double vision is normal. Are you sure you might not be experiencing “auras”, (sparking lights, jagged lines) that are often common after open heart surgery? I had dozens of them in the weeks after surgery, and they gradually decreased with time. I remember you... Read more.
Diana, have you try going to an Ophthalmologist? Keep trying a new pcp and cardiologist, don’t stop looking.
I don't think i was at 100% for a year. Everyone is different. Please take heed to Marie and Ana's advice. Your symptoms do not seem normal to me.
How far out from surgery r u? im 34, and I’m 10 months out and still not quite 100%.
Agree about the dizziness and double vision - those symptoms definitely warrant a call to your cardiologist or PCP. The fatigue, unfortunately, lasts a long time. I found the more I exercised, the more energetic I felt. Short, periodic walks may help. Please keep us posted. ❤️
@Marie Myers and @Ana Brusso I am not having auras just double vision from time to time along with dizziness. I had my eyes checked as advised by my cardiologist and was told los BP will cause double vision because the eyes are not getting enough blood to them. As... Read more.
