Did anyone experience Afib 3 months after mitral valve repair surgery? My doctor is not too concerned about my extra beats but I am getting so much anxiety.
Claudia, for me, I had a lot of anxiety during my AFIB, and after my Cardioversion. It gradually went away. I still get it a bit sometimes. But getting out, and doing things with people is absolutely key to overcoming it. Get back to normal. The drugs you have been... Read more.
I had robotic MV repair 5/2022. Went into Afib/Tack day 6. It felt like heart was doing somersaults. I had PVC's throughout recovery. Had them before surgery but didn't really understand it. Holter showed frequent percent burden about a few months post op. I had pericarditis in the middle of... Read more.
Dear Claudia, are you sure it is AFib and not some other atrial or ventricular arrhythmia? And how long does it last? I had very short episodes, few seconds.
I had Afib and/or Aflutter for about six weeks after surgery.
It was definitely AFib according to my Apple Watch and my cardiologist confirmed it…my heart rate is also high most days. It will be 4 months Feb 18 since my surgery….my cardiologist is not concerned about the AFib or the high heart rate. He prescribed a new medicine called Flecainide... Read more.
Klara, to address how long it lasts….short episodes mostly. I could be in Afib one moment and sinus rhythm the next time I check.

Question…I noticed that I have a rash on my torso and back that does not itch. I am on Methylprednisolone and Amiodarone….Did anybody experience having a rash from medication?
Never heard of the methylprednisolone before, and it has a daunting list of side effects and drug interactions but could not find a rash as one of them. Its the main reason why i hate the thoughts of another med. they do a pretty good job of listing drug interactions... Read more.
The surgeon’s nurse practitioner said it was from Amiodarone
Richard, so good for you to look into this. Glad Claudia found out the culprit. By the way I bought a pair of of the Slimbit knee pads. Just started using them today and hoping they help me with my knee pain. I do need to walk to get stronger... Read more.
I did . it stopped when I was able to get off the amiodarone.
Yes Claudia, I have a small, sensitive rash on my side.

Had my lung drained today at the hospital. The dr said I should feel better in a few days….feeling better already, what a relief.
I'm happy for you Claudia. This is great news, I'm glad you are having relief and feeling better. Keep pushing forward, you're doing great 🙏
Good news Claudia. Glad you are already feeling relief. Stay strong, you will get better day by day. God bless you
That's such good news. It's amazing how fast the relief is from that procedure. I hope you continue to feel better and improve.
Great news! I had that done also, but mine was in the hospital. It made a big difference.
I had 210 ml drained which is about a cup which is a small quantity and dr said that she hopes I get relief in a day or two. Last night I felt I was breathing better and today not so much better. I think the collapsed lung and the... Read more.
You are using the incentive spirometer, right?
I sure hope this all clears up for you. Im sure it will in time. But a note, to really watch that what you are eating doesnt have salt, or very little, in it. Salt is bad for fluid retention. If you eat any processed stuff, get in the habit... Read more.
I am using the incentive spirometer and watching my salt. As the day went on today, my breathing has improve so draining the fluid was the right thing to do. Also had more energy to take longer walks.
Just don’t over do it. Glad your breathing is improving.
