Had my robotic mitral valve repair done Sept. 14th, am home, and am doing fine. The first 2 days after surgery were pretty rough, but thanks to this group and my surgeon I was prepared for that reality and am now on the thankful side of it all! Simple, but... Read more.

As I'm planning for my at home recovery, I'm trying to decide if a hospital bed would be helpful. My normal bed is just too high -- need a step stool! I do have a recliner, but not sure I want to sleep in it every night. Any thoughts?

Hi Brenda.. I found the hospital bed soo uncomfortable in the hospital I cant imagine having one at home..! I have a high bed also and I found that sitting down and then raising my legs one at a time helped me get in. also, your heart pillow will help... Read more.

I will have a mitral valve repair on Sept.14 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. At least I'm hoping for a repair, but am pretty settled on a bovine replacement if that's necessary. I'm trying to prepare myself mentally as I've never had any surgery.
