It has been a while! I found out yesterday that not only will I need a valve replacement, but they may be throwing a bypass in the mix. I'm waiting to get scheduled for an angiogram, and surgery will probably be scheduled for the end of February. Anyone have both... Read more.

I didn't have both but why are they saying you need a valve replacement? It's my experience that they can't really tell if you need a replacement or a fix until they open you up. But your situation might be different. Just curious.
They told me in advance i was having a repair , 99%, unless there was a surprise when they got inside. Glad they did it as i never got a new valve choice. I never found this site till after or i might have asked if it would be a... Read more.
I was told a 70% chance of repair. And I neither chose Ford nor Chevy 😉 but the bileaflet St Jude 😊 There were other options but St Jude has a long and good track record. There are other leavlet types but they don't seem very common these days
I left out oldsmobile to match my car but the repair so far has done the job. Can we call it a valve job? It might have been cheaper if my car mechanic had done it but recuperating on his lift would have been ugly.

How can I tell if my dizziness is from seasonal allergies or my heart? I had a dizzy spell this morning, but I am also... Read more.
I would not ignore symptoms. For me, I attributed shortness of breath to getting old. I would check with the doctor. It's natural to want to blame it on allergies but it's best to check into it.
Can you check your BP at home? That would be useful information during a dizzy spell. I agree with seeing your cardiologist about the dizziness.

I'm looking at the results from a SPECT scan I had and most of it I don't understand. Except for the "severe extent of coronary atherosclerosis" calcium score 772. So I guess on top of having moderate aortic stenosis I also have coronary artery disease? The next cardiology appointment will... Read more.
