Just wondering if there is a correlation between having a bicuspid valve and being a premature baby.
They told us the calcium in your blood gets hung up on your valve after many years and causes it to become smaller which causes the stenosis. This takes many years to happen.
Good question, I was premature and my mom smoked, drank and enjoyed cocaine the entire term. Got to love the 60s and 70s.
You can have stenosis without bicuspid valve but it is more prevalent in people with bicuspid valve. The valve is formed in utero and is a congenital defect more prevalent in men than women. Men usually have to have repair or replacement early than women.
