Congratulations to a big anniversary! I just met my surgeon yesterday and I asked him if the soon to be wire in my chest would set off the alarm!! He said, “when you walk up show your scar. They can just wand that area!”
I was given a card to carry with me stating the valve type and placement, in case I set off any alarms.
Security is fine....unless you have a pacemaker. Airport machines are usually not set up high enough to spot valves!
I too have a card but when I flew, I did not set off any alarms.
