TAVR is not more painful than open heart surgery. It is put in place thru the femoral artery. it is almost like having a cardiac cath. only takes longer, The risk factor is less that is why older or high risk patients have their valves replaced with this procedures. Also... Read more.

Went to surgeon today for 2 month check and had chest X-Ray and Echo. Chest X-Ray showed no atlecthesis or fluid on lungs. Echo was perfect EF-50-55 percent very minimal regeration. Needles to say I am thrilled. I just turned 70 years old and have always been very active. A... Read more.

How long does the swelling at top of incision last? I am 4 weeks post op and it is still pretty swollen.
I just asked Dr. Svensson that question this morning. He said it was from tightening the sutures and will go down over the next 6 months.
Thanks Terrie and Kim. I thought it would take awhile but wasn't for sure how long.❤️
