wow-your progress I what I'm aiming for! on my own AVR june 9th. I know hospital stay and first week home will be tough, but reports like yours give me hope that it may not be as bad as it think. Good thoughts going your way Larry

Hi, I really enjoy reading everyone's comments. My surgery is June 5th and I'm really scared if waking up on a respirator. We're u aware of it or did the uh keep I medicated. Jomarie

I was on the respirator a little longer than they thought I would but I was on enough medication I can hardly remember it.

You most likely will be heavily medicated as I was, it's not a problem at all, just be mindful that you made it to "the other side".

Hi Judith....My fear was being aware of the tube...but I remember very little the first several days. God is Good...

I was scared of that too. In my case I never had any awareness of a tube in my mouth. I woke up totally out of it with tubes poking in a lot of other places, but not my mouth thank goodness.. :)

That is my fear too! I just mentioned it to my Dr today! I am trusting that they will keep us as comfortable as possible! Let's be peaceful together!â¤ï¸

This was my biggest fear too. I was so out of it that as soon as I felt it I heard a man say "Let's get that out". He told me to cough and took it out. I fell right back to sleep. It wasn't bad at all. Praise the... Read more.

Tube? Which tube? JK. I don't remember much of my 48 hours in ICU. By the time I woke up, the tube down my throat had been removed. I'm 3 weeks into recovery and taking two 15-20 minute walks a day. God is great. Good luck with your surgery and... Read more.
