Hey all, this has probably been discussed before but thought I'd ask. Have a few of you noticed that chronic things you had going on before the surgery either amplified after the surgery even months down the line (kidney stone for me) and now elevated liver enzymes which weren't a... Read more.
The opposite for me. I came out of surgery with my psoriatic arthritis doing a lot better: swelling in my hands down, pain in my feet better, & tendonitis completely gone. Of course, I had to beg for almost three weeks after surgery to get back on my methotrexate.
I had a lot of complications caused more than likely by inflammation. It's real. But then you work through them.
I ended up with my kidneys weakened and now see a nephrologist every 3 months😢. Without the surgery I wouldn't be here though😊❤️
I guess one thing that has been amplified is my anemia. I was slightly anemic before surgery, became moderately anemic immediately after surgery. I’ve been put on iron since and I’m back to being slightly anemic but still more anemic than I was pre-surgery. I’m supposed to be getting a... Read more.
Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I very much appreciate it. I know that some of these things I'm going through should improve in the following months. :) Here's to everyone feeling good!❤️

I must have hacked off the Warfarin gods. Extremely frustrated. When I went to the hearing aid place yesterday for a six month follow up they cleaned a bit of wax out of my ears. Last night my right ear decided to start bleeding. Only way to stop it was... Read more.
I can't speak about the ear but I am on a blood thinner and get nose bleeds every so often. What most people do is sticking a tissue up their nose. This doesn't work for me because even if I take it out 5 minutes later, I start bleeding again.... Read more.
I can sympathize. I am on coumadin and also have hearing issues requiring hearing aids. With my ear anatomy I end up needing to get my ears cleaned out at the ENT every 3 or 4 months. They scratched in my ear one time and it bled for around 3... Read more.
You ain’t seen nuthin yet. Try being on a blood thinner at 83.
Sorry for the slow response on this guys! I meant to say thank you to each of you for the advice. :)

Hey all...has anyone had "fun" (being sarcastic a little bit) with warfarin and bleeding problems? My surgery was on May 9, 2025. I know some people do. I'm on the blood thinner because of mechanical mitral valve. We've had trouble getting my INR levels right. This last week I finally... Read more.

It can take a long time to get yr INR up and then it will continue to vary, as that is what it does. I was so freaked at first and then I calmed down and now manage my own med doses. Sorry about the kidney stones. I've heard those... Read more.
I was fortunate this kidney stone didn't hurt. :) Thanks for the feedback, Rita.
I have been on coumadin since june 1990. I was pretty unhappy at first. At 27 years old i needed 15 mgs daily to keep me therapeutic, than menopause at 44 changed me to 8mgs daily. Now at 62, i have setteled into 5mgs daily. I check my own INRs... Read more.
